Youth Exchange at Arkhai Sculpture Park
When Art Truly Knows No Boundaries

These days, the Arkhai Sculpture Park is hosting an international youth exchange, bringing together young people from Romania and Hungary for ten days of artistic creation, collaboration and inclusion.
One of the main aims of the Art Without Barriers Erasmus+ project is to create a shared space where young people from different communication backgrounds and life circumstances can connect with one another through the power of art.
A total of 32 young people are taking part in the programme, including 12 participants with hearing impairments. Young people from the two countries are meeting in the unique surroundings of the Arkhai Sculpture Park, getting to know one another, taking part in artistic workshops and team-building activities, and working together on creative projects. Partner organisations and professionals working with the deaf and hard-of-hearing community have also played an important role in making the project possible.
The Special Technological High School for Hearing-Impaired Students in Cluj-Napoca supported the recruitment of hearing-impaired young people from Romania and helped recommend suitable sign language interpreters. In Hungary, the recruitment and outreach to hearing-impaired participants was supported by SINOSZ – National Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Linda Patkó and her team, as well as Rita Babutsán, a staff member of BGéSzC Eötvös Loránd Technical School. The school’s special feature is that it enrols hearing-impaired students in mainstream classes at class level. Communication for the Romanian participants was supported by sign language interpreters Gabriela Chirteș and Anicuța Vermeșan, while Patrícia Petke provided sign language interpretation for the Hungarian participants.
Art Without Barriers is more than simply an art camp. At the heart of the project is the experience of discovering that art and creativity can become a common language that connects us even when we communicate in different ways.
During the first days of the programme, participants took part in painting and clay workshops, as well as various visual arts activities. Alongside the creative work, team-building and non-verbal communication exercises played an important role.
In one of these activities, the 32 participants had to arrange themselves in chronological order according to their birth month and day without using a single word. In a playful way, the exercise demonstrated that communication does not happen exclusively through speech: gestures, body language, attention and cooperation can also help us find solutions together. The team-building activities were led by Dion Cakolli, a student at the University of Szeged, and Robert Răscol, a student at the West University of Timișoara.
In addition to the artistic programme, the young people also participated in a digital content creation workshop led by Alex Böjthe and Zoárd. The participants learned about video editing on mobile phones, as well as the basics of creating subtitled and more accessible video content.
One of the central elements of the camp is the creation of a collective installation. Sculptor Ernő Bartha, painter Emese Bács and sculptor György Árpád Kun presented the young people with several possible directions for the form of the collective sculpture, but the final decision was made by the participants themselves. As a result, the work in progress will be more than simply an artistic object: it will be the result of the group’s shared decision-making and collaboration.
By the fifth day, the foundation of the installation had already been completed and its overall form had taken shape. The brainstorming and collective thinking of the previous days gradually gave way to the concrete process of bringing the idea to life.
Throughout the project, the practical experience of inclusion is of particular importance.
The participants are not taking part in separate activities; instead, they create, play, think and work together, continuously discovering new ways of communicating and cooperating with one another. For the Arkhai Sculpture Park, the project is particularly meaningful because the site itself is built around the encounter between art and nature. Art Without Barriers transforms this environment into a shared community space where young people not only create works of art, but also build bridges towards one another.
The camp will officially end on August 30. The completed collective artwork and the participants’ creations will be presented at the project’s final event on August 29 at 5:00 p.m. at the Arkhai Sculpture Park. Everyone interested is warmly invited to join us.

Când Arta Se Naște Cu Adevărat Fără Bariere

Parcul de Sculpturi Arkhai găzduiește în aceste zile un schimb internațional de tineri, în cadrul căruia tineri din România și Ungaria lucrează împreună timp de zece zile sub semnul artei, al colaborării și al incluziunii.
Unul dintre cele mai importante obiective ale proiectului Erasmus+ intitulat Art Without Barriers este crearea unui spațiu comun pentru tineri proveniți din medii și situații de comunicare diferite, unde aceștia se pot conecta prin intermediul creației artistice.
La program participă 32 de tineri, printre care și 12 participanți cu deficiențe de auz. Tinerii sosiți din cele două țări se întâlnesc în cadrul deosebit al Parcului de Sculpturi Arkhai, unde se cunosc, participă la ateliere artistice, activități de consolidare a echipei și procese de creație comună. Un rol important în realizarea proiectului l-au avut organizațiile partenere și specialiștii aflați în contact cu comunitățile de persoane cu deficiențe de auz.
Liceul Tehnologic Special pentru Deficienți de Auz din Cluj-Napoca a oferit sprijin în recrutarea tinerilor cu deficiențe de auz din România, precum și în recomandarea interpreților potriviți de limbaj mimico-gestual. În identificarea și atragerea tinerilor cu deficiențe de auz din Ungaria au contribuit SINOSZ – Asociația Națională a Surzilor și Hipoacuzicilor din Ungaria, Linda Patkó și echipa sa, precum și Rita Babutsán, reprezentantă a BGéSzC Eötvös Loránd Technikum. Specificul acestei instituții constă în școlarizarea elevilor cu deficiențe de auz la nivel de clasă. Comunicarea participanților din România a fost facilitată de interpretele Gabriela Chirteș și Anicuța Vermeșan, iar cea a participanților din Ungaria de către interpreta Patrícia Petke.
Art Without Barriers nu este pur și simplu o tabără de artă. Ideea centrală a proiectului este trăirea experienței că arta și creativitatea pot reprezenta un limbaj comun, capabil să ne conecteze chiar și atunci când comunicăm în moduri diferite.
În primele zile ale programului, participanții au luat parte, printre altele, la ateliere de pictură și modelaj în lut, precum și la diverse activități de arte plastice. Pe lângă creația comună, un rol important l-au avut exercițiile de consolidare a echipei și de comunicare nonverbală.
În cadrul unei astfel de sarcini, cei 32 de participanți au trebuit să se așeze în ordine după luna și ziua nașterii fără a folosi niciun singur cuvânt. Exercițiul a demonstrat într-un mod ludic faptul că comunicarea nu se desfășoară exclusiv prin vorbire: putem găsi soluții comune și prin gesturi, limbajul corpului, atenție și cooperare. Activitățile de consolidare a echipei au fost coordonate de Dion Cakolli, student la Universitatea din Szeged, și Robert Răscol, student la Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara.
Pe lângă programele artistice, tinerii au participat și la un workshop de creare de conținut digital, susținut de Alex Böjthe și Zoárd. Participanții au descoperit posibilitățile de editare video pe telefonul mobil, precum și noțiunile de bază privind subtitrarea și crearea de conținut video mai accesibil.
Un element central al taberei este crearea unei instalații comune. În ceea ce privește forma sculpturii comune, sculptorul Ernő Bartha, pictorița Emese Bács și sculptorul György Árpád Kun au prezentat tinerilor mai multe direcții posibile, însă decizia finală a fost luată de participanții înșiși. Astfel, lucrarea în curs de realizare nu va fi doar un obiect artistic, ci rezultatul unei decizii comune și al colaborării grupului. În cea de-a cincea zi, baza instalației era deja finalizată, iar forma acesteia fusese conturată. Astfel, procesul de generare a ideilor și de reflecție comună din zilele precedente a lăsat treptat locul implementării concrete. În cadrul proiectului, trăirea practică a incluziunii este deosebit de importantă.
Participanții nu desfășoară activități separate, ci creează, se joacă, gândesc și lucrează împreună, descoperind în mod continuu noi forme de comunicare și cooperare. Pentru Parcul de Sculpturi Arkhai, proiectul este de o importanță deosebită, având în vedere că spațiul în sine se bazează pe întâlnirea dintre artă și natură. Art Without Barriers transformă acest cadru într-un spațiu comunitar în care tinerii nu doar creează opere de artă, ci construiesc și punți unii către alții.
Tabăra se va încheia pe 30 august. Lucrările realizate în comun și creațiile participanților vor fi prezentate în cadrul evenimentului de închidere al proiectului, pe 29 august, începând cu ora 17:00, la Parcul de Sculpturi Arkhai, unde sunt așteptați cu drag toți cei interesați. Sculptura comună va rămâne în parcul de sculpturi ca un simbol durabil al incluziunii, al creației comune, al comunicării fără bariere dintre tinerii auzitori și cei cu deficiențe de auz, precum și al construirii de punți culturale și umane.
Art Without Barriers se desfășoară cu sprijinul programului Erasmus+, fiind organizat de Asociația Arkhai Sculpture Park, în colaborare cu partenerul din Ungaria, Fundația Mindenki Géniusz.

Nemzetközi ifjúsági csereprogramnak ad otthont ezekben a napokban az Arkhai Szoborpark, ahol Romániából és Magyarországról érkező fiatalok tíz napon keresztül a művészet, az együttműködés és a befogadás jegyében dolgoznak együtt.
Az Art Without Barriers című Erasmus+ projekt egyik legfontosabb célja, hogy a különböző kommunikációs és élethelyzetből érkező fiatalok számára olyan közös teret teremtsen, ahol az alkotás eszközével kapcsolódhatnak egymáshoz.
A programban 32 fiatal vesz részt, köztük 12 hallássérült résztvevő is. A két országból érkező fiatalok az Arkhai Szoborpark különleges környezetében találkoznak, ismerkednek egymással, vesznek részt művészeti műhelyeken, csapatépítő tevékenységeken és közös alkotási folyamatokban.
A projekt megvalósításában fontos szerepet vállaltak a hallássérült közösségekkel kapcsolatban álló partnerszervezetek és szakemberek is.
A Kolozsvári Hallássérült Diákok Speciális Technológiai Líceuma a romániai hallássérült fiatalok toborzásában, valamint a megfelelő jeltolmácsok ajánlásában nyújtott segítséget. A magyarországi hallássérült fiatalok elérésében a SINOSZ – Siketek és Nagyothallók Országos Szövetsége, Patkó Linda és csapata, valamint Babutsán Rita, a BGéSzC Eötvös Loránd Technikum munkatársa is közreműködött. Az intézmény specialitása, hogy hallássérült tanulókat iskoláz be osztályszinten. A romániai résztvevők kommunikációját Gabriela Chirteș és Anicuța Vermeșan, a magyarországi résztvevőkét pedig Petke Patrícia jeltolmács segítette.
Az Art Without Barriers nem egyszerűen egy művészeti tábor. A projekt központi gondolata annak megtapasztalása, hogy a művészet és a kreativitás olyan közös nyelv lehet, amely akkor is összekapcsol bennünket, amikor más módon kommunikálunk.
A program első napjai során a résztvevők többek között festészeti és agyagozási műhelyeken, valamint különböző képzőművészeti foglalkozásokon vettek részt.
A közös alkotás mellett fontos szerepet kaptak a csapatépítő és nonverbális kommunikációs gyakorlatok is.
Az egyik ilyen feladat során a 32 résztvevőnek egyetlen szó használata nélkül kellett születési hónapjuk és napjuk szerint sorba rendeződniük. A gyakorlat játékos módon mutatta meg, hogy a kommunikáció nem kizárólag a beszéden keresztül történik: gesztusokkal, testbeszéddel, figyelemmel és együttműködéssel is képesek vagyunk közös megoldásokat találni. A csapatépítő tevékenységeket Dion Cakolli, a Szegedi Tudományegyetem hallgatója, valamint Robert Răscol, a Temesvári Nyugati Egyetem hallgatója vezette.
A művészeti programok mellett a fiatalok digitális tartalomkészítési workshopon is részt vettek, amelyet Böjthe Alex és Zoárd vezetett. A résztvevők megismerkedtek a telefonon történő videószerkesztés lehetőségeivel, valamint a feliratozás és az akadálymentesebb videótartalmak készítésének alapjaival.
A tábor egyik központi eleme egy közös installáció létrehozása. A közös szobor formájával kapcsolatban Bartha Ernő szobrász, Bács Emese festőművész és Kun György Árpád szobrász több lehetséges irányt mutatott be a fiataloknak, a végső döntést azonban maguk a résztvevők hozták meg. Így a készülő alkotás nem csupán egy művészeti tárgy lesz, hanem a csoport közös döntésének és együttműködésének eredménye.
Az ötödik napra már elkészült az installáció alapja, és kialakult annak formája is. A korábbi napok ötletelését és közös gondolkodását így fokozatosan felváltotta a konkrét megvalósítás. A projekt során különösen fontos az inklúzió gyakorlati megtapasztalása.
A résztvevők nem külön programokban vesznek részt, hanem közösen alkotnak, játszanak, gondolkodnak és dolgoznak, miközben folyamatosan új kommunikációs és együttműködési formákat fedeznek fel.
Az Arkhai Szoborpark számára a projekt különösen fontos, hiszen a helyszín maga is a művészet és a természet találkozására épül. Az Art Without Barriers ezt a környezetet egy olyan közösségi térré alakítja, ahol a fiatalok nemcsak műalkotásokat hoznak létre, hanem egymás felé is hidakat építenek.
A tábor augusztus 30-án zárul. Az elkészült közös alkotásokat és a résztvevők munkáit a projekt záróeseményén, augusztus 29-én, 17 órától mutatják be az Arkhai Szoborparkban, amire szeretettel várunk minden érdeklődőt.
